[2019-2022] Evolution Golf Cart Reviews Vs [Club Car vs Ezgo vs Icon]

If you’re in the market for a new or used Evolution golf cart and are wondering how they compare to the likes of EzGo, Yamaha, and Club car, then we’re happy to let you in on some secrets.

Well, last week, I bought the Evolution Classic 4 Plus Golf Cart with 130AH battery 3 weeks ago. I drove it on a daily basis and that pushed me to write a review.

Are Evolution Golf Carts Good?

Evolution golf carts are good and worth every penny since they have a very solid build, a top-of-the-line 48-volt battery, and are affordable. They are becoming increasingly popular in the U.S since they cost less than the US golf cart brands while offering the same features.

[2019-2022] Evolution Golf Cart Reviews

The basic cart is $8495. Sunbrella was $825. Golf bag support was $190. Plus tax. 2 sand bottles were free. I went to Luxus (formally Parr Car) of Leesburg last week to look at an Evolution golf cart. Luxus no longer carries them. So, I went to STM instead.

Pros

  • The display is very nice with speed, Bluetooth, odometer, and the ability to play movies. You can hardly get bored with all these.
  • The cost of the unit I got was less than $10,000 for a 4-seater with Sunbrella and a golf bag attachment. Quite sturdy if I may add.
  • The microphone and speakers work excellently well so the Bluetooth phone calls were clear on both ends too.
  • STM Golf Carts in Ocala were great to work with too. They took back the cart when It had issues and returned my previous one with a RoyPow battery installed. Oh, I paid part of the fee for that.
  • The cart looks aesthetically pleasing.
  • There are seat belts in the front and rear
  • The rear seat folds flat and there is also a nice hidden storage box under the bed.
  • It’s fast and can attain speeds of up to 25 mph quickly

Cons:

  • The range is limited to 40-45 miles and this is why I returned it. This is bad news for a 130AH battery.
  • The side mirrors weren’t as good as expected either. It lacks a center mittor and the mirrors could only be folded in or out, no vertical adjustment, and the right mirror would never show anything useful.
  • The seat quality wasn’t great. I expected more for that price.
  • The golf support also partially blocks the backup camera. They are supposed to have better bag support later this year.
  • When the seat is folded flat, you’d discover a plastic piece that is meant to hook around a bar. It did not and there was no way for me to adjust it.
  • The ride is rough. Feel every bump. My EZGO is much smoother.

Evolution Electric Golf Cart Reviews

To further get you more details, I convinced two of my friends to buy other models of evolution electric gold carts and write their reviews.

  • Diana:

My Evolution golf cart has been operating wonderfully well. I had the dealer in my area increase my speed with no issues at all.

I also had a warranty seat repair and that was done on time too. The only con I have had with my Evolution Classic 4 golf cart is the slow acceleration, which I get since I have had mine for a year now.

The lithium batteries seem very reliable and the life is 2 hours.

I recently faced an issue where a part on my Evolution Classic 4 golf cart required swapping out. I REACHED OUT to the dealer I bought it from, and they put me directly in touch with Evolution experts that resolved the issue at once, exceeding my expectations in timeliness and quality of the repair.

Not only does Evolution deliver the best value in golf carts, but they also stand behind their product. Special kudos to Kevin at Evolution for going the extra mile to make sure he didn’t rest until I was satisfied.

I highly recommend their product and their willingness to stand by their product.

  • John:

I have a nice experience with this gold with a few exceptions:

It lacks a 12-volt connector (as specified in the manual_

The touch screen can only do one function at a time. That is, you cannot listen to the radio if you use the telephone or speedometer.

The turn signals do not self-cancel and there is no indicator on the side view mirrors or sound.

  • The forward/reverse shifter is short and this has attracted the complaint of users. There are a few products on the market to extend the shifter.
  • If you decide to purchase an EZGO golf cart, ask the dealer to spray the frame with rust-preventative paint to give it a fighting chance against rust.

Evolution Golf Cart Problems

Yes, electric golf evolution carts need almost no maintenance when compared to gas-powered carts, but here are some evolution golf cart problems to be aware of:

  • Batter Problem:

Your golf cart is bound to last shorter as it ages. This is because the battery gets weaker and is more prone to corrosion.

The great news is that you can replace your golf cart battery with ease, but it can be expensive to do so. So, take your time in picking out only the best.

  • Broken solenoid

Evolution carts contain a solenoid, which is a coil of wire used as an electromagnet. This is responsible for providing your cart motor with the power needed to move the cart.

In case, a clicking sound disappears as you turn on your ignition, it is possible that you have a faulty solenoid, which will need a quick replacement by a mechanic.

  • Faulty Direction Switch

Shifting your cart between forward and reverse takes its toll on your unit and will wear, and tear on the switch.

And while most directions are built to take a beating, there will be a time when they will require replacement.

If you’re facing issues with your directional switch, then your cart needs a fix by a repair shop.

  • Problems with the Motor

Your cart motor might give you a headache. But, since most carts feature a reset button near the main power supply to help with it, you may try it.

If that fails, then your motor is likely burned out and will need to see a mechanic.

Note: If you own a brand new Evolution golf cart, then you may not need to worry too much about the issues highlighted above, as you’re only likely to encounter them as your cart experiences wear and tear out on the golf course.

Where are Evolution Golf Carts Made?

A lot of the Evolution gold carts component parts are made in Xinyang, China, but the carts themselves are ONLY assembled in Chino, California.

Evolution metal and plastic components are made by HDK Electrical, the company that Evolution vehicles evolved from after experiencing initial success in Asia-Pacific markets.

But that’s not all. Some of the rest components of your Evolution cart unit are designed in the US, including Lester Electrical and Curtis instruments speed controllers onboard charging systems.

It’s accurate to say, then, that Evolution carts are partially manufactured in Asia and predominantly assembled in the US.

How Fast is an Evolution Golf Cart?

The maximum speed of Evolution golf carts is 25mph, which is quite faster than a lot of other electric carts available on the market.

Evolution golf carts are able to accelerate from zero to 25mph in 5 seconds. How cool is that?

In my experience, a lot of electric carts run top speeds of up to 20mph. The speed limit on golf carts is made so in hopes that golfers don’t cause accidents by traveling too fast out on the course!

Given their 25mph max speed, Evolution golf carts are a great option if you’re planning to use your golf cart away from the golf course, as they’re capable of holding a decent speed out on the road.

How To Make Evolution Golf Cart Faster?

You simply can’t make your golf cart go higher than 25mph. You could replace the existing motor with a high-speed or torque-upgraded electric motor but still, your unit won’t go faster than 25mph.
